Enabling electronics survivability in harsh environments!
SprayCool® enclosures are designed to provide a conditioned and controlled environment
for COTS electronics deployed in harsh environments in the most compact, lightest
weight package, using a closed loop direct-spray
technology. Operating in environments of -65C degrees to +71C, whether at ground level or 70,000 feet altitude, SprayCool products provide eletronics survivability, even for commercial grade electronics. Where rigid constraints for size, weight and power exist, and
performance cannot be sacrificed even under the most challenging environments
SprayCool enclosures are an ideal fit.
The flexibility to deploy any of today’s electronics be they commercial grade, proprietary
or rugged in the same enclosure without redesign or re-qualification offers tremendous
cost and time savings to our customers and partners. Combined with reduced system cost
due to lower priced commercial grade electronics, the total cost of ownership for
SprayCool is much less over the platform life (See System Level Cost Comparisons white paper). In addition, the enhanced thermal headroom provided by the SprayCool enclosure's technology provides customers with the ability to cool tomorrow's electronics with the same enclosure over multiple technology refresh cycles.
Gaining wide acceptance on a number of key reconnaissance, command & control, and EW programs, SprayCool enclosures are running on platforms that include manned and unmanned fixed wing aircraft (U-2, Global Hawk, Predator, Warrior) and rotorcraft (UH-60 Black Hawk) as well as amphibious vehicles like the EFV.

Overview
The revolutionary Multi-platform enclosure (MPE) is a baseline configurable enclosure,
and the result of SprayCool’s extensive experience in the development and deployment
of custom enclosure solutions in the military. Targeted for use in a variety of
mission critical military applications, the MPE chassis employs the company’s patent
two-phase cooling technology (SprayCool®). The product has already been selected
by prime integrators Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman for DoD programs involving
radar and image processing electronic warfare applications, and is being considered
for a number of other airborne and land-based applications.
The MPE was developed to be easily scalable to vehicle needs maximizing size and
weight, and is in both 6U and 3U configurations to support a variety of board standards. With SprayCool technology, both commercial grade high performance electronics as well as rugged or custom electronics can safely operate at extended ambient temperatures while exposed to extreme environments. Remote heat exchangers include PAE, fuel, engine bleed air, EGW and air to air.
Custom Enclosures
Using standard building blocks SprayCool enclosures can be configured to meet customer
requirements. Past enclosure designs have been tested to meet the most severe military
standards including vibration, EMI, sand, dust, salt fog, salt water emersion, altitude,
temperature, acceleration, shock, ballistic shock, catapult launch, and underwater
mine blast. Several designs included nuclear, biological and chemical analysis and
testing. Ultimately, the best test of product reliability and durability occurs
in theatre. With over 75,000 hours of runtime in harsh deployed environments, SprayCool
enclosures have proven longevity year after year.
