SprayCool™ names new Executive Chairman of Board of Directors
Liberty Lake, Wash. (April 5, 2006) –
SprayCool, the maker of SprayCool™ technology and products, today announced that Lou Ryan has been named executive chairman of the company’s board of directors. Ryan replaces outgoing chairman Dr. Al Joseph.
“Lou has a long track record of helping technology companies grow and he’s been a great addition to our board this year,” said Jeff Severs, president and chief executive officer of SprayCool. “I’m confident Lou will help lead us into our next stage of growth and achievement.”
Ryan was formally president and chief executive officer of Entercept Security Technologies. Entercept became a leader in the information security market and was sold to McAfee in late 2003. A renowned entrepreneur and technology leader, Ryan has more than 25 years of computer industry experience as an executive or director in companies such as Borland Corporation, Delrina Corporation, CKS Corporation, Certicom Corporation, Foundstone Security Technology, Internet Capital Group and others. He brings a host of expertise to the table in the areas of strategic planning, sales and marketing, international business, mergers and acquisition, and venture/ late-stage financing.
“SprayCool’s extensive experience with government and military applications makes us uniquely positioned to address a number of unique opportunities in the commercial market,” Ryan said. “I am confident that our commercial product lines will enable our customers to address the complex thermal issues that prevent them from maximizing the efficiency and capability of their products. Our goal is to become the world’s leading experts in solving complex thermal problems for our customers.”
Severs also praised Joseph for his years of service on the company’s board. During his tenure, the company grew from $2.5 million and 25 people to nearly $45 million and over 270 people. Perhaps more importantly, the company established a solid footprint as the thermal leader in government markets and positioned itself to penetrate commercial markets. Although Joseph is stepping down from the board, he will remain an active advisor to the company, Severs said.
“Al has committed significant time, energy and expertise to SprayCool, and his contributions have established a foundation upon which the company can now build,” Severs said. “We’re honored to have had his leadership on our board for so long, and we look forward to his continued support.”
In 2005, SprayCool launched a commercial division to address the growing problem of pervasive thermal issues in high performance commercial electronics design. SprayCool technology uses liquid evaporation, or phase change, of dielectric fluid to cool electronics. This provides revolutionary improvements in performance over existing cooling technology, enabling greater capabilities in electronics design.
