SprayCool adds Howard Davidson to its roster of scientists
Chicago – (Oct. 12, 2005) – SprayCool, the maker of SprayCool™ technology and products, today announced at AFCOM’s Data Center World conference in Chicago that Howard Davidson has joined the company as Principal Scientist.
In this role, Dr. Davidson will contribute his renowned technical leadership to guide innovation, overcome fundamental technology challenges and develop advanced products in support of both the company’s long standing government business division, and the newly launched commercial division. Dr. Davidson’s contributions will be especially crucial as SprayCool works to advance its commercial division, targeted to address the increasingly pervasive thermal issues in high performance commercial electronics. Dr. Davidson and his team will be based in the company’s Silicon Valley office. SprayCool, headquartered in Liberty Lake, Wash., also has satellite offices in Seattle, Pullman, Wash., Wichita, Kan. and Washington, D.C.
“The addition of Howard to our team will allow us to make great strides as we further enhance our SprayCool technology,” said Jeff Severs, president and chief executive officer of SprayCool. “He has deep experience in research, development and evaluation of new technologies for thermal management. These strengths will be crucial as SprayCool moves ahead.”
Prior to joining SprayCool, Davidson spent the past 18 years at Sun Microsystems where he served as a Distinguished Engineer on a variety of research and development projects in the company’s prestigious development labs. Much of Davidson’s work with Sun Microsystems involved system packaging, cooling and interconnect technologies, evaluating new hardware technologies, and conducting scientific research on system and device cooling, signal integrity, optical interconnects, and reliability. He also established a thermal characterization and advanced development laboratory.
Before moving to Sun Microsystems, Davidson was a senior member of the technical staff at Schlumberger Palo Alto Research, with responsibilities for integrated circuit test and virtual reality research. While there he was assigned to work “on loan” at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA, as a senior scientist in the initial three-person team that invented and developed “Brilliant Pebbles,” an ultra-light spacecraft intended to detect and intercept ICBM launches.
